6 valuable things we can’t do during the pandemic
Since the coronavirus, our lives changed in many ways, and here are 6 valuable things we can’t do freely during the pandemic. Unfortunately, we have to give up some things we used to do during the coronavirus pandemic. However, this circumstance makes us appreciate the activities we have taken for granted. Certainly, I am, and these 6 things are also based on my preference since I used to do these activities before the pandemic.
1. Museum visit
I love art. In fact, I was thinking of becoming an artist, painter exactly. So I took many drawing and oil painting classes and really enjoyed it. Until I got into college, when I was starting about seriously my career, I didn’t think I had a talent or had a connection to make it go, so I changed my major to Business-Economics. However, my love for art stays with me. And I also have a friend who represents a few artists, so it’s natural for us to go to museums to see new exhibitions. However, since the coronavirus, we weren’t able to go to the museums. The last of my outing to the museum was The Wende Museum in early March before lockdown. Unlike many other museums, this museum is free. HTTP://wendemuseum.org
At that time, the museum was hosting Edit-A-Thon, so I thought it would be great to participate and visit the museum. So there I was, and since the Wende museum is in Culver City, I explored the culver city a little bit more after the museum visit. Whenever I visit museums, I also google to find out what interesting things I can do and try to do that. Therefore, my weekend outings are fully scheduled and interesting, whether visiting the restaurants before or after, some shopping or near interesting I can do.
2. Art Gallery Visit
The other valuable thing we can’t do during the pandemic is going to the art gallery. Going to the Art gallery has different than going to museums due to openings. When an art gallery hosts openings for artists, we have an opportunity to meet artists. And if we are lucky, we can take some pictures and can chat a little bit too. Some art galleries have tremendous supporters so that it gives art lovers to gather together to network and catch up on what’s happening in the art world. And when the opening is in the evening, the gallery presents with music and some food, sometimes possibly some drinks as well. So it is like going to a party.
Some of the art gallery participants dress up very fancy, and some of them are very causal. Depending on the gallery you visit, you will see the gallery’s culture and how to dress up for that. For example, the last gallery I visited before the Pandemic was the Gagosian gallery to see Tatiana Trouve, and I could see some of them really dress up fancy. As you may know, The Gagosian galley is in Beverly Hills, and Beverly Hills would do it.
3. Eating out
6 valuable things we can’t do during the pandemic, eating out may come up the number one for some people. Why? In our society, we have many reasons to eat out. We go out to eat to see people. We go out to eat so we don’t have to cook. Whatever the reason, we do go out to eat a lot. Maybe for some people to save time. Going to the grocery store, buy items to cook, and cook and eat could take lots of time. Also, for single people, it’s more chore to cook for one than going out to the restaurant to enjoy a good meal. When we go out to dine, most of us usually enjoy good food and enjoy the company we are going to eat a meal with. Basically, we are tasting good food with people we like and having a good time. However, with the pandemic, that’s no longer available. This I took for granted. There are so many restaurants around us. I, especially, love fish but don’t want to cook at home because it’s smelly ππ. So whenever I go out to eat, the majority time I order something to do fish.
4. Networking meetings and social gathering
Busy professionals always want to extend our network. Adding contacts to our life is extremely important. Any many working professionals, our schedule is always filled with network meetings we attend: chamber meetings, meet-up meetings, classes to improve our knowledge as well as social gatherings.
Social gathering is important to connect with people we care about and love. This picture shows my last social invitation I went to right before the lockdown. I had a super great time. There is an excitement to prepare to attend a social gathering, such as what dress to wear, how to make-up, and so on. Of course, there is a little bit of worry, especially if you don’t know who will be there and how to fit it. If you are shy, it makes it more difficult. However, networking and social gathering is one way for us to get connected and improve ourselves.
5. Attending Performance and concert
The other 6 valuable things we can’t do during the pandemic is attending performances or concert. I am a season subscriber for The Soraya; therefore, I try to attend as many performances as possible as long as performance falls in my preference. Of course, I have to consider the time and ticket price. Luckily, if I order so many tickets, I get a discount. Attending live performances gives a different feeling than going to movies. Frankly, I haven’t been to a movie theater for a long time now. I catch up on Netflix most of the time. When you attend a performance, this is also a good topic opener for things to share with coworkers and friends for what you have done.
Of course, I am not the only one who is missing it. I am sure all the performers and musicians are missing not be able to perform. Even though there is a zoom meeting and performers are doing it, it is not the same.
6. Shopping
Lastly, shopping makes a list of the 6 valuable things we can’t do during the pandemic. I know we can do online shopping, and many of us may be happy to do it. Yet, going out to the mall or walking the street and the store and dropping by shopping is different from online shopping. And the biggest advantage is that we can actually see the physical goods. Also, when we are shopping for clothing, we can try on. That reduces the returns, unlikely when we shop online; sometimes, when we receive the items, it was not like what we thought it would be.
