7 Must Have Items for You to Look Professional
Here are 7 must-have items for you to look professional. I believe it’s essential to look at your part regardless of what field you are in. Of course, in what industry you work, there are a few differences. If you work in the creative field, you can play with your outfit a little more. However, if you are in the conservative field, you have to dress for the part. And here are my 7 must-haves.
When I started working after college, I bought several suits and wore suits almost every day. It’s simple and easier. Of course, you also don’t have to think too much about suits; it’s like almost wearing a uniform. I put my hair up. I worked and still do in a very conservative male-driven financial field. So I wanted to colleague to take me seriously. However, I used a flower pin and my favorite pearl choker to show my female side. That’s my thing earlier days.
However, these days, fashion has a whole different meaning. And gradually, I started finding my style and also begin developing what looks good on me. Of course, I started building confidence in my work, and my mindset shifts a bit. For example, even at the weekend when I had to work, I would wear a suit. Lucky I am no longer doing that. I believe you are like me too. Try things when you see them in fashion magazines, and gradually find what works for you. Still, there are classic pieces I believe you should own. One is a well-made business suit. Because those are rarely going out of the style, you can do so much more by accessorizing.
1. Classic suits
The first 7 must-have items is a classic business suit. I believe any professional working woman should own at least one pair of very well-made classic business suits. The suit that you can wear almost anywhere. The suit itself alone or with a blouse or with a tank top or whatever. It should be well made and a classic fit. If your size is small like mine, I suggest you find the brand names that make the smaller sizes. In reality, depending on which brands of companies you try, the size runs slightly different, so make sure you find a good one that fits well.
My best brand for business suits is Theory. I think Theory still makes classic business suits.
2. Structured handbag
In my opinion, you all should own at least one well-structured handbag that shows your personality. The handbag that you can take it everywhere proudly. I know sometimes we hate to spend money on handbags but this is why we should. https://www.bradsdeals.com/blog/why-i-buy-quality-handbags
3. Pair of Quality Pump
Along with a handbag, the other thing you need is a pair of mid-heeled quality pumps. In reality, I prefer a pair of high heels, but if I have to have an important meeting and I also have to stand quite a bit, I prefer to wear a mid-heeled pump.
4. Pearl Classic Necklace
Now you have a well-made suit and structured bag; the next thing is the jewelry piece. Here I am going to say that you should own a pearl necklace. It can be single string pearl or a double-string necklace. Jewelry is an important part of our outfit. For work, I suggest a pearl necklace over any others. Pearl is classic, and it goes in almost all outfits. You can also include a pearl earring along with a necklace.
5. Overcoat
The other 7 must-have items is a quality overcoat. The overcoat lasts years, so it is essential to have a good quality one. The one that you feel happy to wear almost every day during the winter. I know you can change the coat, but chances are more likely you won’t buy several overcoats at once. You will wear one for a while. Therefore, it’s worth investing in buying a good quality coat.
6. Brief case
As your career starts claiming up, more people are paying attention to how you carry yourself. And it will be a wiser decision to buy a briefcase that can last and show others how professional you are. The briefcase is different than a purse you carry. The purse will be considered an accessory item. The briefcase represents your work. Therefore, the solid well made functional briefcase will show your professional image. I suggest the one big enough to carry your laptop along with a notepad, yet, light and well made.
7. Phone case
The last 7 must-have items are a mobile iPhone case. I had to give some thoughts on this whether I should include a phone case. The decision is “yes.” The reason is that you and I are more likely to carry a cell phone more than our bags, etc. So it’s important to show our personality through phone case. Many people might notice your phone case more than others these days.
Conclusion
So here are 7 must-have items for you to look professional. However, a word of caution is that you have to put it together, meaning your hairstyle and makeup will play a big part as well. These days, fashion trends change so much, and I believe it’s how you show your personality and how you carry yourself, which’s more important. Regardless, there should be basic pieces. The show looks more polished and professional, and these are my take on 7 must-have items.
