Happy to Break Fashion Rules to be happy
I am happy to break fashion rules to be satisfied. By the way, who came up with rules anyhow? We all want to be happy, in my opinion. I dress to make me happy. I feel good when I look good. That puts me in a positive mood. Not only that, but life is also too short to worry about what others think. The lesson I learned after my accident. So I don’t care. I will break some.
Rule 1 – Can’t wear a bright color with a brighter color
Often, I heard that a bright and brighter color outfit shouldn’t be worn together. I kind of stay one color if I wear a colorful color outfit or lots of blacks. However, this pandemic changes me somewhat. So I recently purchased a pink top. I wore white pants, and the other time I wore an orangish-red leather skirt, just because I don’t have a pink skirt. You can see more about it from my Instagram. https://instagram.com/fashionbykukanaana
Rule 2 – No Kid items for adults
Well, I admit I like brand names. Mainly their qualities better, but it’s costly. Do you know they make children’s items too? I often buy belts from Kid’s dept. And guess what, I pay less than if I purchase a regular woman’s department. Here are some belts I got spend so much less, especially the Gucci belt. Also, have you ever thought about buying a kid’s jeans?
Rule 3 – Matching Shoe and handbag
I don’t think anybody follows this these days. But this is one of the old theories that we should match the shoe and handbag color that I heard from my Mom. I tried to match my belt and shoes if I can, but I ignore matching my shoes and handbag. Well, in reality, I don’t change my purse every day. That’s why I think this rule is so impractical. I mean, how many of us change a bag every day based on the shoes we will be wearing. Maybe I am lazy 😁😁
Rule 4 – Stick to products made for each gender
I use a couple of things manufactured for men. The first thing is deodorant. I prefer to use Mitchum clear unscented deodorant over women’s decorator. It works for me. The other stuff, I rarely do, but I use man’s mustaches dye for my root touch up. It is much more efficient and less messy. Once while I also use man’s perfume, Dunhill. It happened because I couldn’t find my favorite fragrance, Arpege, and Dunhill was handy. Now, I use Chanel No. 5 since I can’t find Arpege. I use pure perfume, not spray.
See, I broke four rules, and it doesn’t seem too bad. That’s why I am happy to break fashion rules and save money also. Fashion shows our personality. I believe classic pieces last, and trendy pieces come and go. Creating our style by mix and match both classic and stylish pieces takes some practice. Of course, fashion is ever-evolving, and we change too. The moral of the story is don’t worry about too much what you read or see. As long as it looks good and makes you feel happy, that’s all matters.
