How to dress up for a small holiday gathering
How to dress up for a small holiday gathering when we know there won’t be any big gatherings. I spend most of my time working in the office environment, so I hate to spend a fortune on a party dress that I only may wear once for the function. Some of you may have a few party dresses rotate during the holiday season, but this year is different. Yet, it’s a holiday. It’s about our attitude and mindset. I am sure we all still want to celebrate. So let us dress up for a small gather, just a minimalist way.
By the way, today is Monday, and still, the Cyber Monday sale is happening. If you like to get some gift ideas, please check my website, and you will find the last three of my posts are all about shopping. Here is the last one. I think the sale is still going on, and you may find something you hope to get. https://fashionbykukanaana.com/what-to-shop-for-best-black-friday-deals-on-line/
1. Rompers with blouse or sweater
Rompers have been a fashion for a while now, and I am sure most of you have at least one romper. It could be short or could be a long jumper suit. If you have a heave material like what I am wearing, it’s effortless to dress up and not overwhelming. Of course, an overcoat will be handy if you live in a cold-weather environment.
2. Turtle neck sweater with a short skirt
A turtle neck cashmere sweater with an interesting short skirt will be another option. The trick is that you may want to wear a sweater; the backside is a little bit longer than the front. That way, even you don’t wear a belt, it looks good. Here I am wearing a cashmere sweater that I bought from Bloomingdale and a skirt that was from the consignment store. I love ruffled skirts, so this skirt is not ruffled, but an interesting decoration with bows and feathers, so it makes a holiday mood.
3. Casual leggings with colorful coat
So leggings have become very popular these days. Initially, it was for exercising the wardrobe, but it becomes everyday wear. I, myself, wear all almost all the time. When I run errands or after work at home to be comfortable. Leggings look more fashionable than sweat pants and more comfortable than jeans, that’s why I end up wearing a lot. Of course, with leggings, we can dress up or dress down. So here is a way to wear to go to a simple gathering. Just add a fancy lace top or any colorful top if you don’t want to stay on the same color. The key is if you stay all black, which is a very fashionable thing to do but wear something else on top of it, like bright red or yellow coat.
4. Simple black dress
A simple black dress can be seen as a dress up or dress down depending on how you accessorize. A good way to accessorize will be either earrings or bags. It is very functional, can be formal and informal. If it’s a small business-related gathering, a simple black dress will do it.
5. Sequin dress
Well, if you want to get in the mood, you can wear a sparkling sequin dress. It’s so normal now. Everybody in daily our lives we wear. So it doesn’t feel we are dressing up, but it’s still way more than a usual dress. It’s sparking 😁. That’s the beauty of gathering, especially in CA. When I lived in Europe, it’s different. In CA, you can wear whatever. Jeans, or dress up or whatever events are. It’s up to us. The beauty of short dresses is that you can actually wear them at work even if you feel you may dress up more than you usually do.
So here it is. It’s just an idea. You could wear a pair of skinny jeans and a sequin jacket. Shorts with a ruffled top, whatever it is. As long as you feel great to put on and show your personality, that’s all about wearing clothes. Fashion is what you feel comfortable to create to show who you are, not to try to be someone. Well, at least that’s my philosophy. Thank you for dropping by my blog. I try to post every Monday and Thursday, so stop by again. Even I post 2 times a week for my blog; I post on my Instagram every day, so please check it out and follow along. https://instagram.com/fashionbykukanaana Thank you, and let’s get through this crazy 2020 first.
Cheers!!!
