Three Ways to Make Money by Consiging Wardrobes

1. Good Quality Brand Named Wardrobes

There are a few places you can consign your brand designer wardrobes with excellent quality. The place that comes to mind is TRR (theRealReal) https://therealreal.com. It has been a business since 2011. Initially, it started as an online e-commerce business, opened retail stores in a few locations, and went on IPO in 2019.

TRR is very peculiar for the quality of outfits you consign and brand. So make sure the wardrobes you want to consign are high quality and have designer names. TRR does their inspection, and it doesn’t meet their standard; they return your wardrobes. All is one online, and they send a prepaid label. Once your wardrobes are accepted, you have nothing to do, and your items are sold, they will send you money on your choice, whether credit or store credit.

2. Make Money by Consigning Local Consignment Store

The second way to make money is to consign the brand name wardrobes quality is not as good yet still in good shape. Those, I recommend, consign the location consignment stores. I used The Closet Trading Company (I am in Los Angeles, CA). The Closet Trading Company https://theclosettradingco.com locations are Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills, and Santa Monica. Interestingly each site takes slightly different items, so one place might not accept them, but others may do.

The Closet Trading Company still wants you to bring good quality brand-name and take well-known brand names; TRR only takes high designer brand names. Also, when you take items, they can tell you right away what they will take and not take, TRR you have to wait until your things get there. The Closet Trading Company usually keeps 6 months, and it doesn’t sell; they return to you.

3. Make Money by Consigning Current Items

Lastly, if you are like me, I prefer classic quality brand-name wardrobes that can last for a long time, and I can consign later. However, many of us can’t afford only to buy designer names. Therefore, if you have current well-known name brand and current fashion items, you can consign a place like Buffalo Exchange. Buffalo Exchange https://buffaloexchange.com takes more contemporary and hip hop outfits. Though brand name helps, they don’t shy away from fashionable items they think clients want. So if you have more trendy current fashion items, you can consign Buffalo Exchange.

You can donate either Goodwill https://www.goodwill.org or the National Council of Jewish Women https://www.ncjw.org for items you don’t think you can consign to get the tax deduction.

Make Money Consigning Conclusion

So here are 3 ways to make money by consigning your wardrobes. If you have a good brand name that you think you can consign TRR, spend some money and dry clean the items and try to consign. It’s a new year. Let’s clean up our closet and start fresh.

Clean up your closet and sort through wardrobes, and if you think you are no longer interested in wearing them, send them to consignment stores. Why not make some extra money that you can.

Have a happy cleaning!!

I’m an avid thrifter, because I love switching up my style and recreating my closet. I always go to thrift store to sell my clothes, but they have become so picky! I think its also a good idea to sell online to shops like depop, thredup,
& etc. Or upstyle the clothes so the local thrift shops will take them.

      Hi, Kiyomi,
I agree. Thrift/consignment stores are becoming very picky. Your suggestion is very valid. We can buy better quality and care better so that we can consign. Thanks for the suggestion on online shops.
