How to upgrade old wardrobes using decorative items is today’s post. I see Chanel’s current spring/summer fashion shows that sequin and feather outfits are still in high demand. Of course, puff sleeves and decorated skirts, and cropped tops are still in. However, Chanel is a fantastic brand name that goes with a price tag. So I am either have to substitute similar items if I want to stay current fashion curve, or I also can update some of my wardrobes by modifying them.
Of course, fashion repeats. And it’s really true. Most fashion style is a slight modification of existing fashion by large. This made me think I can upgrade some of my outfits by using decorative items to keep up with current fashion. Or I believe if you have your own style, it is good to know about the current fashion style, but you don’t need to follow it if you don’t want to. However, you can create your own version.
I think I am a smart shopper because I am the type of person who doesn’t want to pay retail prices and always looks for money value. Therefore, many of my outfits are quality items that I bought from sales or consignment stores – with a price tag attached. And believe me, we buy brand name because of its quality, and it also lasts. So if you are like me, you are more likely to shop on sale and take care of clothing to wear for a long time. So why not update a little.

How to Upgrade Old Wardrobes
Simple Pink Dress
If you have any simple one-color dress, it’s easier to add either sequin or trim to create a new look. Here is an example of mine. So I have had this particular pink dress for 5-6 years. I love this dress because of the color. It’s baby pink, and it’s not too overwhelming or not too light, just beautiful pink.
So how am I going to upgrade it? Here is the way I am going to do it. I am basically changing a few areas with more decorative items. With pearl decorated, lace trim will go in the top of the dress line, and instead of plain spaghetti straps will be replaced with decorated pearl straps.
You can upgrade any of your sleeveless dresses using my idea. Of course, you can be more adventurous than me, like decorating with pom pom trim. That could be more fun too.

How to Upgrade Feather Skirt
Since the feather skirt has been in fashion, of course, I have one. In fact, I have two of them. One I bought from Amazon and the other from Alice and Olivia. The price is quite different as well as quality, but it has its own use. Most of the time, I wear a feather skirt with a black lace top or puff-sleeved blacktop. However, after seeing how popular and how sequins can be worn, I decided to wear them with a sequin top. Of course, I can also upgrade by adding tiny flowers in the waistband, and it works well.

If you are like me, I am sure you have several pairs of jeans. And if you like to update your jeans to have fun wear, the simplest thing you can do is with iron-on decorative items. Of course, you can get sequin trim and saw the side of jeans as well. You can get iron-on patch items from JoAnn as well as other decorated items you like to use to update your wardrobes. The other simple way to upgrade your old wardrobes will be adding accessories. Colorful flower pins or scarves can go a long way. Of course, you can carry the unusual shape of handbags and put on red shoes, which could bring you old wardrobes a new fresh look.

So here is my version of how to upgrade my old wardrobes by using decorative items. Or you could simply wear slightly different than your normal style.
For instance:
- If you have a dress, you love but need uplifting, decorate with trims or flower items.
- Wear unusual combinations, like sequin over the feather. You may think it may be too loud, but it doesn’t. Or decorate with wait with trims or flower accessories.
- For casual wear, like jeans, you can use iron-on patches to make jeans a little more colorful.
- Of course, there are accessories you can use. I use flower pins and pearl necklaces all the time. It perks your wardrobes and gives a fresh look.
