How to wear one bright colorful coat

How to wear a bright, colorful coat, a good question? In my opinion, a bright-colored coat can make your day happier, especially a yellow coat. There are many color theories and how color can affect our mood. Red, blue, and yellow is the primary colors. According to color psychology, yellow is the most notable color in human eyes. The color yellow relates to acquired knowledge. Also, yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness, and fun. So when we wear a bright-colored coat, how should we wear it? We could wear the same color scheme creating a monochromatic look, or we could make the outfit contrast more by wearing complementary colors.

Recently, I bought Sam Edelman’s faux fur coat in a bright yellow color. This coat is my recent purchase. Actually, this coat comes in many colors, white, black, yellow, and blue, I believe. I happen to have quite a few yellow outfits, and I already have a red coat, so I went for a yellow coat. I am lucky enough that I can still wear my old outfits. I mean, I can still put on. Therefore, when I update a piece, I usually get something I can use with what I already own. Some outfits I have are over 10 years old, but I can still wear it; however, whether it is still in a trendy fashion, that’s a different matter. Yet, the quality outfits I own; it doesn’t matter whether it is in fashion or not, classic outfits always have their own place for it.

Monochromatic look one (1)

I am wearing a yellow dress from Amazon (you can still get this dress) and a yellow coat. The dress is simple and ruffled in the bottom with a tie that you can wrap around the neck. I also decorate it with a yellow flower pin. The real reason I use the flower pin is that the dress is a deep V-neck, and I like to cover a little bit. Other than my boots, my outfits are all yellow tones; therefore, creating a monochromatic look.

Here is another way to create a monochromatic look. I am wearing a yellow blouse and yellow-colored pants. All the colors are yellow, with a slight variation. I am wearing high-rise wide pants cuffed in the bottom and hits right on the ankle. Despite the various color, however, it all stays the same hue of yellow. Therefore, creating a monochromatic look. I am wearing ankle white boots with this outfit.

Also, here is the similar items you can purchase much less price. Some coats can last for a long time, but we can get tired of it, so if you don’t want to spend money and want to wear a season, buying these less expensive items is the way to go.

I am wearing a yellow blouse (I can’t see it since it is covered with a scarf) with a leather yellow mini skirt. I like leather clothes. The main reason I like it is that I can wear all year round. There are many shady of yellow. You can see from my skirt, and it’s a very bright yellow compared to my coat. My coat looks almost honey yellow. I also love hats, so I have several hats for both summer and winter. More likely, I won’t wear a hat to go to work, but I will keep a hat handy and will wear after work when I go out.

Complementary look

Another way to wear a bright yellow coat is to wear it with a complementary color. Here I am wearing a purple, actually almost lavender shirt dress and a coat. To my surprise, I don’t have any dark purple-colored dress. I have a purple color blouse. The lavender shirt dress is a loose style, so I put on a belt. I am wearing Ruthie Davis’s sandals. I have a few Ruthie Davis shoes, and I always enjoy it when I wear them.

Split-complementary look

Here I am wearing a blue knit Tibi dress with a yellow coat. The dress is body-conscious and fits perfectly. Other than summer, I can wear this dress all around. In the first picture, my dress looks almost black. I presume you can wear a bright color coat with any black dress or any black outfit. Also, this year’s fall fashion trend is the sweater dress. So if you have a colorful coat, wear a sweater dress. It will create a well-put-together and fashionable look.

With leopard print look

Here I am wearing my bright yellow coat with Zara’s shorts and a lace top. It looks like a short mini skirt, but it’s actually skorts. Leopard print is one of the fashion trends for 2020. However, in truth, the leopard print’s popularity has never gone away. I usually don’t wear lots of prints because wearing big prints can overwhelm me. I am also wearing leopard print super high heels. I think it’s almost 6 inches 😁😁. Leopard shoes or handbags will go well with this yellow coat if we can mix well with others. So this is another way to wear one bright, colorful coat.

So with one bright coat, we can create many looks. First, create a monochromatic look by staying in the same color zone. Even we are wearing all or slight variations, and the color hue will create a monochromatic look.

Second, we can try to create a complementary look. If we like to create a complementary or split-complementary look, depending on what color coat we have, we need to find out what color will create that look and try. For example, the complementary color of red is green. It seems strange red and green, but we won’t know what kind of feel and look it will create until we put it together.

Lastly, try to mix and match and see how it works out. Either way, I think we can have lots of fun just trying to see how it will work out. We can try to wear a white outfit to pop up the coat and outfit if you have a black or red coat. I don’t think it doesn’t fit with any color scheme, but well, I think it will be fine.
