My Day Trip To Beautiful Lavender Farm

My day trip to a beautiful lavender farm in Los Olivos, CA, is today’s topic. This day trip happened because I had an outstate visitor. Since I live in Los Angeles, a short trip, I can go to either San Diego, Santa Barbara, or closer cities that doesn’t require too much driving. However, I remember my last trip to Santa Barbara, when I visited the lavender farm, and the season was over. And the owner told me that it was the best time to visit between May, June, and July.

So, I decided to take the guest to Santa Barbara purely out of my curiosity to fill. Of course, since we have to pass by downtown Santa Barbara, our trip to visit the lavender farm is not direct. We went to a few places. So here is our journey of the trip to the lavender farm and the places we visited along the way.

1. Planning the Trip

The first thing was to plan the places we wanted to visit. We went to most of the places we wanted to go to other than one place because of not have enough time. So basically, we looked at the places we both wanted to visit based on my last visit to Santa Barbara. However, we added the Santa Barbara Pier because we love the ocean. So our plan was that visit downtown Santa Barbara and have breakfast and head to a lavender farm and, after that, a Danish Village. And finally, the Pier and the Sacred Space and be back.

2. Breakfast at Andersen’s Danish Cafe

My day trip to beautiful lavender farm, the first stop was Andersen's Danish Cafe

The drive from LA to Santa Barbara was easy, and the parking was very convenient. I wanted to visit again the Andersen’s Danish Cafe located on State St. The last time I was there, I had to wear a face mask. However, at this time, I didn’t. It was busy as usual. I ordered coffee and Belgium waffles. After the meal, we walked through the State streets and popped in a few galleries and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, where I bought a hat and a red poppies bookmark.

3. The Lavender Farm

Picture from the lavender farm

It took about 40-45 minutes to go to the lavender farm, Los Olivos. Traffic wasn’t bad, but I still had to pay attention. To my surprise, when we arrived, we didn’t see much lavender, and we were told we came a bit earlier, that we should have visited in June or early July. I thought it was late May throughout early July. At any rate, we were lucky enough to take a few pictures. Another photographer wanted to take lavender farm pictures, so I felt I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know the season. That made me feel somewhat better.

4. Visit the Danish Village

When I was on a lavender farm, I couldn’t visit the Danish Village. So this time, I was determined to go. I knew it was near from lavender farm but didn’t know the exact location. It kept sending me to Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery when I googled. I didn’t realize that Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery is in Danish Village. At any rate, we got there and had ice cream and walked around and bought some souvenirs.

5. Santa Barbara Pier

my day trip to beautiful lavender farm on the way back stopping by Santa Barbara ocean front

We realized that we wouldn’t be able to visit the Pier or The Sacred Space and opted for the Pier. And because of the driving time, we decided to stop by the ocean front. It was a lovely day, and the parking was a nightmare. The parking now has a free up to specific minutes before it was paid parking.

Do you love the ocean? Are you a beach or mountain person? I am for sure a beach person. I can’t compare the smell of the sea to anything; so refreshing.
