Recycling is good for my morale and environment.
Why recycling is good for my morale and environment is no brainer. Well, at least I think so. There are so many articles written about why it is so important to recycle plastics. http://www.4waste.com.au. We all hear a lot about recycling. I figure that’s what I should do. Initially, I saved my water bottles and dropped a recycle garbage container.
As I used to do it for a while, I realized that I drank lots of water. I think it’s got to do with my job, being on the phone all the time. According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine determined that adequate daily fluid intake is about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) for men. About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women. I knew we need to drink lots of water but didn’t think I have to drink that much water.
Why do we need water to survive?
Why do we need water to survive? According to the Google search I did, it said that “our body uses water in all our cells, organs and tissues to help regulate temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because our body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. After I read about it, I was more into drinking water. It’s healthy as well. Also, we can control our appetize. Our skin looks better when we drink lots of water. I use a Brita filter for tap water and purified water bottles that I purchase from the grocery store.
One day, when my friend and I were talking, the recycling topic came up, and I realized that I could make some money by recycling instead of dropping the recycle container. So I wanted to see how much money I could make, and I decided to take the bottles to the recycling place myself. It says 10 cents per bottle. However, that’s not true. Because when I take the bottles to the recycle place, I have to put the bottles in a container to weight and based on weight, I get paid. So it’s not 10 cents per bottle. It also depends on where you take your bottles; you get paid differently. You will find someplace pays more than the other.
Depending on recycling place, you get paid differently
Some places have a bottle counting machine, and I can count by using the device. The only problem is that if a bottle is not perfect, it doesn’t go through. So I have to weight whatever doesn’t go through. I save the bottles in a big trash bag, and when I fill three (3) bags fully, I take them to the recycle place. Depending on where I take them, I get between $7-$10. I know it’s not that much money, but it makes me feel good. During the pandemic, I think I am getting paid more than before.
See, recycling is good for my morale and environment. I have to drink water anyhow, and by recycling, I contribute to the clean environment that makes me feel good. On top of that, I make some money. It’s a win-win situation. If you have a space to store the bottles, please try and recycle. If you don’t have a space to store or too much hassle to take the bottles to the recycling place, please make sure you put them in the recycling bin.
